PRECIOUS METALS ASSAY & HALLMARK CENTER
GIT's Precious Metals Assay & Hallmark Center gives assay and hallmark services for gold, silver and other precious metals. Equipped with high-technology instruments for both metal purity testing and hallmarking, the center protects consumers by preventing fraud and promoting fair competition. Moreover, the center also supports the Office of the Consumer Protection Board and Tourism Authority of Thailand by inspecting the fineness of jewelry.
Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) is used for analyzing the purity of gold, silver and platinum, as well as other metals. This technique is capable of analyzing a wide variety of samples both qualitatively and quantitatively with superior accuracy and detection limits.
Auto-titration is used specifically for analyzing the purity of silver. It provides accurate and quick determination of silver fineness.
Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (ED-XRF) is used for analyzing the purity of gold and other precious metals. This equipment offers a nondestructive investigation of precious jewelry products and other samples, but the obtained results apply only to the surface of the sample.
GIT's laser hallmarking tool employs a laser beam to mark small symbols or words on the surface of precious metals. These symbols or words are used to indicate the purity of precious metals and the owner or manufacturer, in order to guarantee the quality of the goods.
